Kazu Oikawa, a PhD dissertator in the McLellan lab, identified inflammatory responses as playing an important early role in damage to the optic nerve caused by glaucoma. Armed with this knowledge, we will be better equipped to develop new treatments to prevent vision loss in glaucoma. His work was recently published in the journal “Molecular Neurobiology”.
